Walter J. Mabe, Supervisor for the Shenandoah District, was born in a small town called Eden in North Carolina. After High School he joined the US Marine Corps as an enlisted man and served from 1971 till 1976 in the field of Aviation Electronics and separated as a Sergeant. After separation from the Marines and working with several businesses, he moved to Front Royal where his children finished High School in Warren County then moved away to pursue his career as a Project Manager for large scale telecommunications companies. He came back to Front Royal to retire in 2016. Mr. Mabe was also asked to become a member of the Board at Prospect Hills Cemetery and has been involved with them going on his second year. Mr. Mabe joined the Local American Legion, Post 53 and has been on the Executive Board for the Legion for just a year.
Seeing the need to serve the community and the county Mr. Mabe got involved and ran for the Local Board of Supervisors and won the general election in 2019. This will be his first opportunity to serve his county and community. His objectives are for a strong community spirit and smart growth with clarity to solve local problems by building and managing the county budget. Mr. Mabe resides with his wife of 35 years and has 2 children and 7 grandchildren.
